The training provided also serves as a phenomenal precursor to the Wake Forest University Neurovascular Ultrasound and Neurovascular Interpretation course.
- NVL training will include ultrasound physics (applied physics and fluid dynamics), carotid duplex and TCD.
- We will explore quantitative and qualitative waveform analysis, and how this information is applied to carotid duplex and the various transcranial Doppler exams.
- Waveform changes based upon intracranial and extracranial cerebrovascular disease
- We offer a multi-dimensional training program that combines both didactic learning with small group or one-on-one hands-on scanning. This will develop a more thorough understanding of exams to accurately interpret the information obtained by the performing technologists. This training provides physicians with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-life situations.
- Waveform analysis will be combined with hands-on training for an additional lesson on Point of Care ultrasound to perform a 2-minute emergent carotid duplex exam.
- Case studies on Carotid duplex and TCD exams will be presented for proper interpretation so the physician will obtain the necessary knowledge to use established criteria to confidently interpret the exams performed by their technologist.
